Having now introduced our novel NMT (Neural Machine Translation) service, which we have trained only for German-, English- and Turkish-written patent applications and technical/scientific texts, we have boosted our translation quality and capacity and reduced our pricing. Who are we?

patero—a term we derived from the ancient Greek words pateo and patere, meaning to lay open—is a provider of translation and paralegal services in intellectual property matters with a particular focus on patents, providing services in German, English, and Turkish.

It was '97, when we started providing Turkish patent translation services to patent attorneys—with an inherent affinity for the ideas of inventors and the mechanisms to protect them. Over the years, our services evolved spontaneously to include other services, i.e. proofreading, editing and drafting of patent and utility model applications, as well as searching the prior art.

Since start, we have completed more than 8.000 projects for individual patent agents and patent attorneys, patent and law firms, research and development (R&D) centers, as well as individual inventors and applicants.

We are settled in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey, and have a network of team members with a background in natural sciences, engineering or medicine. This means that we do not just translate, but have the background to understand the subject matters we deal with.

What is our attitude?

Placing top priority on accuracy, confidentiality, and punctuality, we handle each project, be it either a patent application to be translated or to be drafted from scratch, as an embodiment of human intellect that deserves due respect. Despite the entirely technical nature of patents, this perspective prompts us to take each project as a unique work of creativity to be handled by the correct person, in terms of both technical capabilities and personal characteristics, and therefore makes us meticulous in the assignment of projects.

Always adhering to this principle, which we interpret as commitment to science, technology and languages, we have been serving our clients for more than two decades. To this end, we

• have been using computer-assisted translation (CAT) software, Neural Machine Translation (NMT) technologies and various customized computing capabilities,

• have been using translation memories (TM) and termbases consisting of our work dating back to 1997, which helped us training our NMT models,

• have a team of a limited number of full-time professionals, all holding at least BS in natural sciences or engineering,

• have adopted a fair pricing model, appreciating the translation costs incurred by patentees, and

• have always been committed to perfection.
